Poetry For Our Time

Poetry heals the wounds inflicted by reason. -Novalis

Poetry isn’t working today; consider this a freewrite.

I haven’t been home much today, so i haven’t gotten the chance to write an actual poem.  I have a lot of ideas, just nothing finished.  There is just way too much going on in my head the past few days.  I’m not concerned with sharing on here because, well, most of you don’t really know me on a super personal level (other than Amy).  I’ve been thinking a lot about what i really want to do in life.  I was accepted to Eastern Illinois University, technically.  They told me to attend IVCC for a semester and if I was able to get a 2.5 GPA, then they would admit me.  That’s currently what i’m doing.  However, i’m starting to wonder if all the stress is worth it.  The bottom line is, i have been considering different options.  I could continue working my butt of in hopes of MAYBE being accepted into Eastern, or, option #2…i move to Oregon with my best friends, go to school out there, and basically start over fresh.  I don’t want to get too far into detail here, so i’ll leave it at that.  It’s just something i have to figure out, i guess.

  1. I think moving to Oregon with Reilly would be fun …obviously but you wouldnt be able to go to school there because youd be out of state youd had to live there for a year first…so consider that when making your desision also consider what its gonig to be like to have a year off and then have to start again..(because i’ve been thinking about going to school in another state as well..and these are all hard choices) also i’d miss you terribly and i’d deffinetly have to make my way up and visit you guys..

sorry not to add a million more things for you to think about

  4. Correction, Amy, she could go to school there if she wanted, but it would be uber expensive due to out of state tuition.

You know, that part of Oregon is beautiful. I “vacationed” there once, and it really is onoe of those places that makes you feel refreshed and alive again. As humans, we’ll always feel that need to escape and start over somewhere new, but very rarely does it turn out the way you want it to. Just something to consider.

If you want to talk some stuff out, you know how to find me.

  6. The state of Illinois has wonderful state schools. And it is university policy to charge state/out of state tuition.
